You may be wondering a little about how Pilates Member System came into existence.
Its life sprung out of my near death...
It started the moment the Emergency Room Doctor told me, “Mr. Landreth, you're having a heart attack.”
It was an early Sunday morning.
I remember it like it was yesterday.
As you can imagine, this is the kind of life event where you remember every little detail.
It all started at just about 5:30 AM.
I heard my 1 year-old son, Thomas, wake up crying in his room.
It was time to wake up and go give him a hug.
I pushed the bed sheets down and put my feet on the carpet.
“Daddy’s coming to get you little buddy!”, I thought to myself.
I walked across the living room & opened his bedroom door.
There he was… standing in is crib looking right at me.
When he saw me, his tears turned to a smile.
He held his hands up…reaching for my arms to grab and hold him.
I reached down, picked him up, held him close to my chest and told him ‘I’m here buddy, everything’s ok’.
At that moment, something inside me wrenched relentlessly.
It was as though someone was turning a vice and slowly squeezing my entire chest.
Crushing anxiety overwhelmed me virtually in an instant.
Panic was beginning to set in.
I paced back and forth in the living room holding my son, fearful of the feelings I was having.
I whispered to him ... “Everything is OK.”
Really, I was telling this to myself as self-assurance.
As the moments went by, seconds seemed like minutes.
Things continued to get worse.
The pain & anxiety increased exponentially.
I couldn’t breathe.
The walls felt like they were closing in.
I knew I had to do something…quick.
I flung open the doors to our master bedroom.
My wife was in bed still sleeping.
I handed her Thomas and hurriedly said, “I have to go to the hospital…something’s wrong.”
When I arrived at the Emergency Room, my vision began to close in.
I started to see stars.
The Dr. looked down on me…”Mr. Landreth, you’re having a heart attack.”
Ohhhh Sh*t… I thought.
My section of the ER turned into an orchestra of medical technicians whirring around each other.
Nurses surrounded me. Needles poked. Machines beeped. Hanging bags dripped.
All hands were on deck.
I looked up to the ceiling and tears filled my eyes.
“God please…Don't take me from my family.”
They rushed me to an operating room where a 2nd team was waiting for me.
The surgeons placed 3 stents into my heart that day.
They saved my life.
Later I found out that the type of heart attack I had was a ‘widow maker’.
Most people die from this type of heart attack.
If not treated within 90 minutes, most don’t survive.
I was lucky to make it in time and lucky to have skilled hands treating me.
Before the heart attack, I was trying to grow my digital marketing business by helping other business owners generate leads & sales online.
We were very successful, but I was struggling with juggling work, business and family all at the same time.
No doubt, the stress was a piece to the puzzle that contributed to having a heart attack.
I was getting more and more frustrated, believing I was under serving my customers by spreading our agency too thin & not focusing on one specific industry.
Because of the heart attack, I was forced to take a step back from my business and remove myself from all ongoing projects.
It was time for me to go into full recovery mode.
As you can imagine, I was in bad shape.
I could barely shuffle to the bathroom.
It took weeks to finally be able to slowly walk around the house.
Recovery for me meant a full commitment to a complete workout regimen and lifestyle change.
I became determined to be as healthy as I can be.
I still am.
Through this recovery process, I had an epiphany that I needed to serve those in the fitness space.
Internally, I had a desire to be closer to those who are dedicated to living a life of health.
At that point, I completely changed our business.
No longer would we be spread thin & serve other industries.
We dedicated ourselves to exclusively helping fitness clubs and pilates studios.
This was a complete game changer.
Because of this decision to strictly focus on Pilates studios, we have been able to:
• Create a proven system to generate new pilates memberships at nearly the push of a button
• Develop exclusive tools to massively increase studio membership & engagement
• Spread my message and help others to live a health life
Now that we’re 100% focused on helping pilates studio owners grow their business, I get to work closely with business owners who value health.
And that's why I'm so passionate about our work with Pilates Member System.
I created it not only to help gym owners expand their memberships and grow their business, but to also help my family, my team and myself live a healthy life.
